1932

Incorporation of the Companies: Upper Ganges Sugar Mills Limited and The Oudh Sugar Mills Limited.

1933

Commissioning of a Sugar Mill at Hargaon Unit with an initial capacity of 400 TCD.

Commissioned a Sugar Mill at Seohara, Dist. Bijnor in the state of Uttar Pradesh with a capacity of 500 TCD & started business.

1945

Commissioned the distillery to produce the Industrial Alcohol at Hargaon Unit.

1959

Established a Distillery at Seohara (U.P.) with a capacity of 1.10 lac gallon of spirit per month, which was transferred to Alco Chem Ltd., a subsidiary of the Company.

1966

In Upper an Oil Mill was set up at Chandausi (U.P.) to manufacture groundnut oil.

1970

Upper took on lease Morton Confectionery & Milk Products Factory at Marhowrah (Bihar) from C. E. Morton (India) Ltd.

1976

Acquisition of a sugar factory at Rosa, in U.P. with a cane crushing capacity of 1000 TCD.

Distillery of Upper which was transferred to its subsidiary Alco Chem Ltd was merged with the Company w.e.f. 1st April, 1976.

Confectionary factory at Marhowrah (Bihar), taken on lease from C & E Morton (India) Ltd., also merged with Upper Ganges Sugar Mills Ltd. effective from 1st July, 1976.

1977

Increased the cane crushing capacity of Sugarcane to 2500 TCD at Hargaon .

1982

Upper Ganges purchased a Tea Garden called “Cinnatolliah Tea Garden” situated at North Lakhimpur (Assam).

1984

The name of Upper Ganges Sugar Mills Limited was changed to Upper Ganges Sugar & Industries Limited.

1984

Acquisition of another sugar factory by The Oudh Sugar Mills Ltd. named New Swadeshi Sugar Mills Ltd. at Narkatiaganj, Dist. West Champaran, Bihar with cane crushing capacity of 1219 TCD and a Distillery, and a Food Processing unit at Bamrauli near Allahabad.

1991

Increase in the total cane crushing capacity to 3500 TCD at Hargaon.

1993

Increase in the total cane capacity to 2500 TCD at Narkatiaganj.

1994

Increased the crushing capacity to 7000 TCD of Seohara Unit.

1995

Increased crushing capacity to 1750 TCD of Sidhwalia unit.

Carbon-dioxide plant of 6600 Tons per annum capacity was installed at Distillery Unit of Seohara Plant

1996

Increase in the total crushing capacity to 5000 TCD at Hargaon- the highest one by Sugar industry standards.

1997

Increase in the total cane crushing capacity to 2500 TCD at Rosa.

1999

Increase in total cane capacity to 5000 TCD at Narkatiaganj.

2000

Commissioning of a new Bio-Compost Plant with a capacity of 20000 Ton per year at Hargaon.

2000

Commissioned a new Bio-compost plant at Seohara with a capacity of 20000 Ton per year

2001

Increase the cane crushing capacity of Rosa unit to 4200 TCD.

2002

Increased the crushing capacity to 2500 TCD at Sidhwalia Unit.

2003

Ethanol Plant was commissioned with a capacity of 60 KLPD at Seohara Plant.

2003

Commissioned at Narkatiaganj the Ethanol Plant with a capacity of 50 KLPD, to participate in the Gasoline Project initiated by the Government for blending of 5% Ethanol with Petrol.

2004

Taken over the sugar division of New India Sugar Mills Ltd., having a Sugar Mill of 1750 TCD at Hasanpur, Distt.- Samastipur (Bihar) w.e.f. 1st October, 2004 pursuant to the Scheme of Arrangement approved by the High Court of Allahabad.

2004

Increase in the cane crushing capacity to 6500 TCD at Hargaon and achievement of highest sugar recovery of 10.85% in the state of Uttar Pradesh.

2005

Increase in the cane crushing capacity to 7500 TCD at Hargaon

Commissioned a new Bio-Compost Plant with a capacity of 13500 Ton per year at Narkatiaganj.

2005

Chandausi Oil Mill Unit of Upper was sold.

2006

Increase in the cane crushing capacity to 10000 TCD with complete Automation for Sugar Factory operations along with new 15 MW Co-generation plant at Hargaon.

Increase in the cane crushing capacity to 7500 TCD with complete automation of manufacturing operations and commissioning of a new 10 MW Co-generation plants at Narkatiaganj.

2007

The Oudh Sugar Mill Limited achieved ISO 9001-2000 certification and ISO 14001-2004 certification

2007

Commissioned a 24 MW Co-generation plant at Seohara Plant.

Capacity of Distillery at Seohara Plant was enhanced to 100 KLPD.

2008

Increased the crushing capacity to 5000 TCD of Sidhwalia Unit sugar refinery unit and a Co-generation plant of 18 MW was commissioned.

Increased the crushing capacity to 3000 TCD at Hasanpur Unit.

Commissioning of a most modern distillery of 100 KLPD capacity with Molecular Sieve Dehydration System to produce best quality Ethanol and Rectified Spirit with a 30TPH slop firing Boiler at Hargaon. This facilitated the unit to use spent wash from the Distillery as fuel besides eliminating the chances of water pollution.

2009

Commissioned at Hata a new and ultra modern refined sugar plant with an initial cane crushing capacity of 7000 TCD.

Enhanced cane crushing capacity to 60 KLPD with Molecular Sieve Dehydration System to produce best quality Ethanol and Rectified Spirit distillery plant at Narkatiaganj.

2010

Commissioned a new Co-generation Plant at Hata with a cane crushing capacity of 20 MW

2012

With crushing of 152 lacs qtls of sugarcane Hargaon Unit of the Company achieved the 3rd highest Cane crushing position in India.

Enhanced cane crushing capacity to 8000 TCD at Hata.
